If you are looking for a quiet site, with no club, bar, shop or pool, this is an excellent site. The owners, Gary and Barbara,  are extremely pleasant and helpful.  Nothing is too much trouble for them.

It must have rained every day during our stay in the tent but we still enjoyed every minute. The site is beautifully landscaped and the walks through the valley are spectacular. The fishing is exciting - if not very productive for us! (The big one got away.)

There is a free boating lake for the children and a flat area for ball games etc.  There is no children’s playground but none of the children on the site seemed to have a problem with that.

The pitches are of varying size and shape, many with electrical hookups.   All the pitches are a good size so that tents and awnings are not too close to each other.  The site is spread lengthways through a valley so no-one feels at all crowded.  If you need an extra electric cable, Gary will lend you one.

The shower and loo facilities are basic  but were cleaned daily while we were there. Water for showers and hot water for washing up is free but can sometimes run out at busy times.  There is a freezer available for campers to use.

Altogether, this is an excellent site, especially for those who do not like the more 'commercialised' holiday parks.

We will definitely be returning, if only to catch the big one which 'got away'!

We also spent a week at Batcombe Vale when our car broke down and the caravan was damaged by a car which hit it on a duel carriageway.  The AA took us from South Wales to the site (which is close to home) but we didn’t arrive until 10pm.  Gary and Barbara helped me set up the caravan while Jeff and the AA man dropped the car at our local garage and Jeff picked up my car.  Gary and Barbara are stars!!
