Carry a box of moist hand wipes at the front of the car boot, so once hitched up, there is a means of cleaning your hands.

Block the waste ports of the waste water system with large corks and fill the pipes with a strong solution of bicarbonate of soda and water until the sink begins to fill. Leave for a few hours, before repeating the operation with sterilising fluid. Very good for removing nasty niffs.

To make sure you have enough spices for cooking with, get some small plastic containers that rolls of film are packed in. (Get them free from any photo processing shop). Washed and labelled, stored in a tupperware box, they make an ideal, unbreakable solution.
