Preparation
There are a number of things to consider when undertaking a task such as this.
When ordering your socket, make sure the socket is double proofed. That is, an external flap to the socket and an internal flap over the socket itself.
Next, make a template for the socket if one hasn’t been supplied. To do this, simply place the socket on a piece of paper and pencil line round the external edge. Then cut to the draw line. Next, pierce the paper in the centre, and cut to each corner, just allowing room for the centre of the socket. (Much the same way as fitting around a light switch when hanging wallpaper).
Cut to the internal edge of the socket, allowing 1 centimetre leeway. Mark the screw holes.
Transfer the paper to a piece of stiff cardboard, glue in place and cut out the cardboard using a sharp craft knife. Take your time with this to get it right, as it will determine the success of the finished job.
